<description> quot;Mecki bei den Negerlein quot; was published in 1957.  This hardbound children s book features, Mecki the hedgehog.  Outrageously illustrated in racial caricatures and a story line written with strong racial themes; literally translated the title of this book is  quot;Mecki at the Niggers quot;.  Mecki is a German fictional character, who originated in the 19th century.  The character evolved with the times and became a popular comic book character by the mid 20th century.  A series of hard cover books was issued once a year at Christmas during the 1950s - early 1960s.  Sixth in that series,  Mecki bei den Negerlein  was issued in 1957. This is the original edition with the cloth spine published by Hammerich and Lesser, Hamburg, Germany.  Herausgeber, Eduard Rhein, by Hammerich   Lesser Verlag GmbH Hamburg 1957... Printed in Germany 1957 quot; .  Written in German, this book is hardbound, 11.25 quot; x 8.25 quot;, unpaginated, about 100 pages, 50 of which are full color full page action packed racially themed illustrations. The text is clean tight and intact with full color endpapers; the boards are bright and clean, with slight edge wear and bumps to to the corners, top and bottom of spine. </description>

It was privately published by  quot;Chautauqua Poets, Chautauqua N.Y quot;,  compiled by Dudley Gordon, this hardbound book measures 5 3 4 quot; x 8 7 8 quot; and contains 82 pages.  The text is clean, tight and intact; the cover is largely clean, just a few minor rubs, and very light bumps at the corners. The spine intact - lightly rubbed.  In her column, published December 17, 1936 Eleanor Roosevelt wrote  quot;I have also just received a small volume of poetry, a collection called  quot;The Chautauqua Poets quot; edited by Dudley Gordon. One can not expect uniform excellence in any collection but if you like poetry I think you will enjoy looking over this little book. quot;  This 1936 column was clipped and is included with this copy. </description>

<description>Popularized in the 1920s, the cartoon, Bonzo the Dog, was created by artist George Studdy. Bonzo&#x27;s popularity inspired extensive product lines. A vast array of different salt and pepper sets were produced. Measuring 7 3 8 quot; wide by 3 1 2 quot; wide  approx.  this charming condiment set features  Bonzo the Pup as a salt and pepper shaker set on a tray complete with lidded mustard jar and the original lusterware spoon.  The tray originally had a basket handle which is no longer present.  All completely intact free from any chips or cracks.  The mark underneath is shown in the images, stamped in red ink, the letter quot;H quot; forms the center of flower petals, surrounded by the words  quot;Hand Painted Japan quot;.  The shakers retain their original corks. </description>

Sixteen black and white plates by Charles De Feo, and a full color frontispiece. The classic story if Pacific coast salmon runs. Bound in beige cloth which shows some soil, the edges show light wear; the corners are bumped.  The spine is maroon with gilt titles; the spine is brittle,worn and chipped at the top particularly and tattering at the bottom; please check the images for a view of the spine. <description> Middlemarch , Volumes I and II by George Eliot, Rare Sterling Edition Leather Bound, Gilt Marbelized Boards   End Papers This is a very rare antique edition of George Eliot s Middlemarch, fancy bound in leather with marbelized boards and end papers, both embellished with profuse gilt.  On the the title page it says  quot;Illustrated Sterling Edition  Middlemarch  by George Eliot, Boston, Dana Estes   Company Publishers. quot;  Although undated, this book was obviously published very close to the original publication date of  Middlemarch in 1872.  The boads are bumped at the corners, with a slight tatter at the top of the spine and there is a 1.5 quot; split on the front of the leather on the bound edge.  The hinges front and back are  unbroken - the text is clean, tight and intact, appearing to never have been read.  This book was stored with great care in a local estate. </description>
