With 220Engravings - Very rare, 1844 Edition, Hardbound measuring 3.75" x 5 1/8" and containing 168 numbered pages plus lists of the engraved illustrations which appear throughout the text illustrating things to interest children. Man made items such as plows, forts, diving bells, cupola and pyramid; then a variety of animals as shown in the image; ships including a galley, ketch xebec, brigantine; food including tea, coffee flax; birds; fish and peoples of the world including Nootka Indians, Miexcians, French, Icelanders, Negroes, Otaheitans and more. At the end of the book is a story about little Alice Green, transported from her home in Norwich Ct. to Boson on the back of a faithful Indian, Uncas. Published by H.E. Phinney Cooperstown, N.Y. Complete and itact, the spine has been taped long ago, the covers are rubbed and bumped as you can see in the images. Elanora Hayes, the original owner signed her name several times in the book There is some little foxing and water staining.
