Old Gingham Dog & Calico Cat. California Pottery S & P This is a pretty version of Johnny Gruelle's beloved characters, The Gingham Dog and Calico Cat". These cuties are a perfect theme for salt and pepper shakers and there are many different ones to collect. This particular example is vintage California pottery I believe. The impressed mark underneath is hard to make out, but I think it says "RAVEN". These are in excellent condition, free from any chips or cracks. They measure about 3" tall.

1950’s California Humpty Dumpty Salt & Pepper 1950’s California Humpty Dumpty Salt & Pepper, Vintage pottery nursery rhyme salt and pepper 4.25" tall set as Humpty sits on a wall. Flat unglazed bottoms, this is a hard to find set, Humpty has crazing and some of the hand painting before the glazing got smeared to the left of his tie as shown. The green wall has a small chip at the right upper edge.
 

Vintage Nursery Rhyme S & P Country Mouse & City Mouse Acquired from a fine collection, this unusual pottery set is in excellent condition, free from any chips or cracks. They measure about 4" tall and are unmarked. Experience dictates that this genre is California Pottery circa 1950s.

 

Harper, Pottery Calif. Goose & Golden Egg Salt & Pepper These vintage California Pottery Shakers were acquired from a fine collection and have been preserved with care. Generously sized, the goose measures about 4 3/8" tall, and is free from any chips or cracks. The mark underneath is shown in the image.

 

Baby Davy Crockett with Rifle & Diaper Vintage S & P From a fine collection comes this creative set, a representation of Davy Crocket as a young child wearing a diaper and toting a big rifle. Excuse the glare in the image, unavoidable due to the shiny, reflective glaze on the pottery. These measure 3.25" tall and are free from any chips or cracks. There are real safety pins inserted in the pottery diapers. The bottoms are flat and unglazed with labels on each over the holes which advise the use of tape over the opening after filling. There is no other mark. Experience dictates that these might indeed be California pottery although it's impossible to know for sure without any labeling or marks as to origin.

Pied Piper of Hamlin Vintage Salt & Pepper Set Unusual story book or nursery rhyme shakers depict the Pied Piper of Hamiln and a dressed up rat follower. These measure 4" tall and are in excellent condition, free from any chips or cracks, original corks intact. They are marked underneath "Japan" with a black ink stamp. There a tiny spec of paint loss to the elbow area of the Piper on the back.
 

Mother Goose & Goose w Golden Egg Vintage Storybook S&P Mother Goose and Goose Who Laid the Golden Egg Vintage Nursery Rhyme Salt & Pepper Shakers -This quality vintage salt and pepper set has been stored with care in a fine collection, and remains in excellent condition, free from any chips or cracks with the original corks intact. Mother Goose measures 4.5" tall. These have a beautiful glaze, emulating Majolica. A vintage Japan import.

 

Rare Stackable Vintage Little Red Riding Hood S & P Rare Vintage American Pottery Little Red Riding Hood Stacking Salt and Pepper Shakers - Preserved with care in a fine collection, this vintage shaker set measures about 3.5" tall. These are in excellent condition, free from any chips or cracks. The yellow color is airbrushed under the glaze, while the red on the hood is in the style of Hull Red Riding Hood. Experience tells me that these of American origin. They are unmarked
