1917 Knox Gelatin Cookbook Black Baby Chef 1917 Knox Gelatin Premium Recipe Book Black Americana Baby Chef Cover
Knox Gelatine, early 1900s Premium Recipe Book with detailed colorful graphics on high quality glossy pages. Knox's then logoo was a pair of baby chefs, one blonde and one charcoal, clad only in aprons and large chef's hats present huge gelatin molds. The book is 4.8" x 6.75", has 37 pages. There is some discoloration near the staples which hold the book together, and some minor tattering of the right hand side. This is visible in the photo. The cover has the worst of this, it diminishes inside the book. There are various spots of discoloration throughout the book. The finished recipes are in full color and appear most appetizing. Beautiful colorful antique art throughout!

1959 Farm Journal’s Country Cookbook HB DJ This hardbound "De luxe edition" of the Farm Journal’s Country Cookbook dated 1959 measures 9.5" x 6.5", 420 page hardbound recipe book with dust jacket, clean, tight and intact. This appears to never have been cooked with the original dust jacket which has protected this book for 50 years shows some wear and tear. The red and gray cloth boards are excellent showing only some very slight bumps at the corners and edges of the binding. Published by Doubleday, there 32 pages of full color illustrations and more than 1000 recipes.

1882 The New York Receipt Book Fletcher's Castoria 1882 "The New York Receipt Book" Fletcher's Castoria Advertising Premium Paper Cook Book - premium booklet contains the calendars for 1882 and 1883, 6" x 4", 33 pages, recipes, testimonials (including one from P.T. Barnum, poetry and advertising, excellent overall condiition, someone has put a string through the upper right hand corner, and a couple of little pages of recipes have been added to the book. Front and back heavy paper covers have superb images - the front "The Diver" and the back "One of the Children Who Took Castoria". Minor soil appears here and there throughout. Overall excellent condition and intact.

Old Mazola Recipe Book Introduces Corn Oil Mazola Recipes Introducing the Pure Oil from Corn for Salads, Deep Frying and Shortening - this very old booklet is undated, late 1920s to early 1930s is my best guess-timate. It measures 4.5 x 5.5", and contains 24 pages, 64 recipes in all. Minor oil stains, still very legible and intact. Both the front and back covrs are shown in the photo.

1887 Ransom's Family Receipt Book Ransom's Family Receipt Book 1887 "Free to Everyone" - published by D.Ransom, Son & Co., Buffalo, N.Y. Medicine advertising, interspersed with recipes, 4" x 6.5", 32 pages, some minor soil to front cover as you can see. Someone has put a string through the upper left hand corner of the book. Although the pages are a bit brittle, with some very slight chips, overall condition is remarkable, clean, tight and intact inside. You will be amused by the medicines such as Trask's Magnetic Ointment, and Dr. Ransom's Hive Syrup and their amazing cure-all claims!

1951 First Edition “Cook It Ahead” Cookbook A recipe collection "devoted to meals which can be prepared well ahead of time,…so that the cook is free to enjoy family or guests right up to the last minute before serving the meal…" Written by Elinore J. Marvel, this book has survived in excellent condition, although the dust jacket shows some wear at the edges, it has done a good job protecting this hardbound book, 5.25 x 8.25", 243 pages, clean condition. This was hardly read, and not used to cook with.

1967 Cook Book The Art of Making Real Soups 1967 Cookbook The Art of Making Real Soups - hardbound, "A delicious collection of Recipes from Round the World" by Marian Tracy with drawings by Grambs Miller. 5.75 x 8.5", 249 pages, published by Doubleday. The colorful dust jacket shows some very slight wear, but remains nicely intact and has done the job of protecting the hard cover, which is excellent condition. "Here are over 200 soup recipes of all types, for gray days and happy ones, for spirit soothing or sumptuous entertaining." There is some light spotting to the edges of the pages, particularly evident when the book is closed, and only very slightly evident when the pages are open.

The cover shows wear to the edges, expecially the binding, one stain on thecover, along the right edge as you can see. Inside is clean, tight and intact.
